When he's not editing a video, producing a song or promoting a crazy night in New York, you'll likely find him heckling for laughs as a comedian. Perhaps the most notable of his contributions to gay media has been the heavily shared video "Soccer Practice" that you can easily find on YouTube. In this video, McGovern plays The Gay Pimp, a character that has brought him more attention than you can imagine. Even Rosie O'Donnell noticed when her team was working on casting the upcoming show for Logo, The Big Gay Sketch Show.

The song Soccer Practice catapulted Jonny McGovern into the gay limelight, making him an instantly recognizable figure. Known by his handle "The Gay Pimp", McGovern's latest endeavors, which include a new CD, sketch comedy show and popular podcast are propelling him up the slippery rungs of the superhomostar ladder.

GAY PIMP goes to Hollywood

With a stage name like "Gay Pimp," you know Jonny McGovern has an eye for fashion. The New York City-based actor/comedian/musician has been flashing his diamond bracelets and necklaces ”not to mention his pearly whites” for audiences around the globe ever since his breakout single, "Soccer Practice," climbed the club charts in 2003. Certainly, McGovern's cheeky lyrics (such as this example from "Soccer Practice": I'm a dirty frat boy on a dirty soccer team. Go into the locker room after wrestling) deserve some of the credit for his appeal. He owes his tongue-in-cheek music videos a bit of thanks, too. Just as important to his rise to fame (and his upcoming return), though, has been his silly-meets-sexy sense of fashion.
